Responsibility for Attitudes
What does it mean to be responsible for one's own attitudes? Recent years have seen a wealth of fascinating philosophical work exploring the nature of our responsibility for our own mental lives. It is an area that has drawn interest from those working not only in ethics but also philosophy of mind and epistemology. Much of the discussion has focused on issues around agency and voluntariness, as well as those relating to normativity in self-knowledge. Included in this discussion are considerations about the nature of blame and how we can plausibly do justice to the common intuition that we are somehow at fault when we experience certain mental failings
